Bee Your Hair Gets Real About Her Kinky Coily Hair

Bérénice, known to her followers as Bee Your Hair, is a popular vlogger who generously shares all her hair care secrets, favorite product reviews, and styling tips. We were absolutely thrilled when she agreed to answer a few of our questions, and we're incredibly grateful for her insights!

What is your hair texture?
Regarding my texture, I'd say 4B/4C. I'm not very comfortable with these numbers and letters; they are simply coily.

Have you always been natural?
No, I've been natural since 2014. I transitioned from 2012 to 2014.

If not, why did you make this choice?

Have you encountered any difficulties in your hair journey?
My transition went well for 2 years. When I cut off all the relaxed parts, I was happy, and I started to get to know my hair and understand what it needed. I tested many products before finding what worked for me.

What is your hair routine?
My routine is simple: once every 10 to 15 days, I wash my hair: oil bath, shampoo, and treatment, then leave-in. When I feel the need, I hydrate with hydrosol or water and seal with shea butter + an oil. (whichever I have on hand)

Your go-to products?
Nettle hydrosol, shea butter, castor oil, the biotin treatment from Shea moisture and the conditioner from Secrets de Loly.

How do you style your hair daily?
I'm quite lazy, so I usually do a twist-out that I keep all week, or an afro puff or a bun.

Do you ever entrust your hair to a hairdresser?
Yes, I've had my dedicated hairdresser for 4 years; I entrust my hair to her, and she straightens it for me.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to those who want to keep their hair natural?

I would tell them to be patient. Afro hair is versatile and beautiful. It definitely takes time, and sometimes I get tired of it, so I find alternatives like doing a blow-out or adding extensions so I don't neglect it. The idea is to find alternatives so you don't get tired of your hair and find it restrictive.

Thank you, Bérénice!
